Testing Notes: Roksan Attessa with Rogers LS3/5A Proves a British ‘Matching Suit’ Gives the Best Sound

“Earlier at Elephant, I tried a “British suit”: Rogers’ re-issued LS 5/9A paired with [Roksan] Blak. To this day, the results were deeply impressive… The flatish and geometrically-shaped Attessa is a transistor synthesizer on the surface, but in fact it has both a built-in streamer and decoder. It can also be used with a standalone CD player from the same series. Attessa also comes with a built-in MM phono amplifier, as well as BluOS Multi-Room multi-zone playback control. My thought was that for these functions and its appearance, I have absolutely no complaints for a pricetag of a little over HK$10,000.”

“Eddy picked to play the classical selection Masters of the Cello. As soon as the music started, it sounded airy, open, and fully three-dimensional. The sound was completely at a high fidelity level. The texture in the strings and deep resonance of the cello were equally fascinating. … When Eddy changed over to play an LP, the universal law that under the exact same conditions, vinyl will always win [over CDs] was once again confirmed.”

“… Compared to the current setup of Roksan Attessa paired with Rogers LS 3/5A + AB3A, playing the same Arthur Grumiaux Plays His Best-Loved Encores,… objectively speaking, it was also the most poignant replay of strings I have ever listened to on Rogers LS3/ 5A+ AB3A…”

“Not only does it highlight the sonic advantages of Roksan Attessa with Rogers LS 3/5A + AB3A, but it also attests time and again that the “British suit” is still one of the best ways to enjoy music.”
